Bauchi auto crash,13 dead

No fewer than 13 people have died in a road accident, which occurred at Busuri village on the Bulkachuwa-Dambam Road in Bauchi State, while five others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus that had a head-on collision with an Iveco truck coming from the opposite direction.
Daily Sun learnt that the accident occurred on Friday at about 8.45p.m.
A statement made available to journalists yesterday by the Bauchi State Police Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed, said: “On Friday at about 20.45hrs, there was a head-on collusion at Busuri village along Bulkachuwa-Dambam Road, Bauchi, involving a Blue Toyota model F Hiace bus with registration no AQ 79 AKR (Ondo) driven by one Sule Abubakar, male and 28 years ofBulkachuwa town, Bauchi State and a White Iveco truck with registration no XBOX 907 GWL (Kano). The accident occurred when the vehicles coming from opposite directions suddenly collided.”
The PPRO said a police patrol team attached to Azare Division of the command had evacuated the victims to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare.
The police spokesman stated that 13 persons, including the driver of the Toyota bus, were certified dead by a medical doctor.
He added that the remains of the deceased were deposited at the mortuary of the hospital for post-mortem examination, while the victims who sustained injuries were receiving treatment.
Mohammed, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), however, stated that two of the corpses were yet to be identified, adding that efforts were on to locate their families.
The PPRO urged members of the public, whose relatives travelled in the two vehicles to check FMC, Azare for identification.
